The village of Ribaritsa lies at the foot of the Balkan mountain range, in the Teteven Balkan Mountains in particular. It is 12 km away from the city of Teteven, as it is situated on the banks of the Beli Vit River.

As the story goes, many years ago when women went to the river to take water for their households, they had to push the fish away with their hands so that they could fill their copper buckets with water. This is how the village got its name. The Bulgarian word for “fish” is “riba”.

Nowadays, the beauty, the wilderness and the specific location of the village attract tourists from all parts of the country. Ribaritsa, situated in Tsarichina Reserve, attracts the lovers of the mountaineering. They can go hiking to the huts of Vejen, Benkovski and Eho, which are on the territory of the Central Balkan National Park. The mountain lovers, who would prefer to enjoy the beauty of nature staying in the village, can visit the area of Kostina. This is where one of the Bulgarian revolutionaries, a leader of the April Uprising was betrayed and killed in May 1876. Today, one can find a good place for recreation there.  There is a playground and benches, you can have a picnic or just relax there.

Another destination worth visiting near Ribatitsa is the Glozhene Monastery, where another Bulgarian revolutionary Vasil Levski used to hide. It is located in the mountains near the village of Glozhene and is another good option to go hiking to.

The Troyan Monastery and the Saeva Dupka Cave are also near Ribaritsa.
